A sound performance about the voices and the noises in the sea. Oceanic soundscapes blend with histories, mythologies and fantasies about our aquatic cousins. Featuring underwater microphones, hacked game controllers, motion trackers, a gargle-along theme song and a very lonely whale, [whalesong] is a celebration of the diversity of voices in the sea, and a challenge to humanity’s desire to control and own them. It’s a subversive, submersive theatrical sound bath that hates plastic and loves blowholes. So, blubber up – the ocean’s calling.
